Separate Playing Fields

“You aren’t even on the same playing field.”
This is some advice I gave to a friend the other day. She was having issues with someone in her life who drives her freaking crazy. Like, the mere mention of this lady’s name, and she’s triggered.
Whatever her internal issue is with this person is something she’ll have to figure out.
But.
In the meantime, I gave her my perspective as an outsider looking in. (For the record, I know both women. Fairly well.)
This particular annoying lady is a one-upper. Everything my friend says or does, she’s got it beat. No matter what it is.
For example: Let’s say my girl mentions she hit a home run. Ms. One-Upper responds with, ‘Well I scored two touchdowns last game!’
My friend could be super pissed off and take offense. Or choose to stay quiet next time about herself or accomplishment.
Or.
She can see it like this: ‘Cool. I don’t play football. So good for you. My home runs are still awesome. I’m here, on the baseball diamond. And you’re there, on the football field.’
YOU’RE NOT EVEN ON THE SAME PLAYING FIELD.
So don’t let her get ya down.
Play your game, and play it well.
Your fans are baseball fans, anyway. I promise.
So play your own game, girl, because that’s Luxuriously Dope.
