Stop Telling Me What To Do

You should express yourself more, but don’t put that on social media.
You should have confidence, but be humble.
You should go on a diet, but you only live once- enjoy that cookie!
You should have goals, but be content with what you have.
You should sacrifice everything for your kids, but definitely don’t lose your identity.
You should be happy, but not all the time- that’s not realistic.
You should speak up for what you believe in, but don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
You should have empathy, but don’t care too much what people think.
... and on.... and on... and on...
Everyone comes from different walks of life, upbringings, and circumstances. What is right or normal for them, may not be for you. That is normal, and expected. It’s the very definition of ‘Your perspective is your reality’.
A great way to look at this? You wouldn't get mad at someone because they had curly hair, or demand they change it, or get annoyed that they were buying hair product made for curls. You'd be like, "Cool. They have curly hair. I have straight hair."
And then life would go on.
If we can keep in mind that someone else's circumstances, subconscious beliefs, and experiences are more objective (like curly hair), and less subjective (they chose this opinion that is different from mine), we might be able to be more decent human beings.
Let's stop overthinking, pushing our opinions on others, telling other people what to do, and just live our damn lives how we best know how...while being nice to each other!
Because being freaking nice (and authentic!) is Luxuriously Dope.
