End Games

You know the scene: You decide to try something new. Or shift something in your life. Or make a change.
If/when you disclose it, you’re met with the question, ‘Ok fine, but… what’s the end game here?’
I hate that question. Like, I don’t know Karen. If I knew that, I wouldn’t be navigating and questioning and trying to make the best decision I can today.
Turns out, this is a question based in fear.
And it’s important to note here: it can come from an outside source questioning you, or it could be your own brain challenging your decision.
If asked by someone else, it takes on the nuance of ‘I don’t want you to do this.’ It’s totally a THEM thing to figure out why they feel this way, and are making YOU the problem. That’s none of your business. Something in your decision is triggering them, and they don’t like that feeling. So they pose it in a question to you, from a place of care.
Or, even more times I would say, it’s the voices in our own heads that can try and talk us out of change. It’s a ‘What if I don’t succeed at this new thing? What if I fail? Maybe I shouldn’t?’
Somewhere deep down we are scared we won’t succeed. So we end up asking ourselves that same question: ‘But what’s the end game here?’ And it’s purely out of fear and doubt.
So the next time you find this question popping up in your life, maybe do a quick check like this:
‘Is this person (or am I) debating starting a crack habit?’
If the answer is no, then shut your face. Do NOT let that stupid ‘end game’ question enter the chat.
Because no one knows the end game. We’re all just trying to enjoy the road getting us there- whatever that looks like.
(And- NEWS FLASH- that’s generally different for everyone!)
Keep trying to make the most of your life.
Because life is Luxuriously Dope. 🖤
